I was recommended to Mr Falworth in 2011 with problems to my right shoulder. I found him very caring and listened to me, as I have other health issues. He was most definitely not "gun ho" in operating on me, and I had to have three injections over time, together with physio, unfortunately none of that worked and I had to have an operation. He was always available for me to see him, or telephoned me, and gave me great support. Since the beginning of this year, I have had trouble with my left shoulder, and he has again shown me great support and kindness. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone, and can assure the person that they would receive wonderful treatment, and would be in excellent hands.

Profile

My practice is solely limited to the multidisciplinary management of conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow. Patients’ needs, and the use of physiotherapy and interventional radiology techniques, are always considered before surgical solutions are discussed and utilised. All treatments are evidence based and reflect the exacting standards that I adhere to in my role as a Consultant Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

I qualified in Medicine from King’s College Hospital, London in 1996 and underwent my higher specialist orthopaedic training on the St Mary’s Hospital rotation in London. I then undertook a further two years of specialist Fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery in London, Austria, Australia and the USA.

I now provide a comprehensive service covering all aspects of open and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery, including providing a significant revision service to other orthopaedic surgeons throughout the UK. I am widely published in the orthopaedic research literature as well as being the author of several text book chapters related to shoulder and elbow surgery. I am also a regular invited speaker at both national and international scientific meetings and instructional courses.

I am currently the elected Vice President of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and was Clinical Lead to the Shoulder and Elbow Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital from 2012 to 2017. I was previously the elected Hon. Treasurer to BESS and I am currently the Chairman of the Instructional Course Committee, which is responsible for coordinating educational content for the annual Instructional Course for shoulder and elbow surgeons and AHP's in the UK. In 2018 I was also honoured to be awarded a prestigious BESS Copeland Fellowship in order to help project the work of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society internationally.
